The Ortovox Pro Light is the packable end of the Ortovox avalanche shovel range, and a sensible choice for anyone whose pack is already full. The anodized aluminum blade is shaped to sit flat against the inside of a pack rather than cutting into the fabric and everything stored beside it, and the quick-lock arm secures the telescoping shaft in one motion with no buttons to locate with gloves on. Blade rigidity matters more than blade size when digging set-up avalanche debris, and aluminum is the baseline for that. A T-grip handle keeps weight and bulk down while still transferring useful power.
