Finding its spot between the Tecnica Zero G and Atomic Hawx XTD series, the Alpha grabs the potential for the one-boot quiver. Thanks to a grip walk sole, the Alpha will be capable of riding any new binding on the market. While not recommended, the Alpha will meet the criteria for an all-day in-bounds and out-of-bounds ripper.
The new Shift Alpha boasts a super cool BOA closure system that's not your average setup. The dial is placed on the outer side of your foot, near the navicular bone, and the cable attaches to the inner ankle pivot using a strap. This helps pull your foot into the ankle pocket instead of squishing it. As an added bonus, the top has two regular buckles and a fancy 50mm elastic power strap known as the Salomon Booster Strap. Plus, all the hardware is made of simple screws and bolts, making it easy to fix and customize.
