Ski mountaineers who count grams and still expect to ski the descent are who the Scarpa F1 XT is built for. A 100 flex on a 100 mm last drives an 85 mm ski on firm snow better than the weight suggests, helped by a Carbon Grilamid LFT cuff. At 1,145 g per boot the Scarpa F1 XT is a genuine fast-and-light shell, and the two-buckle Wave LT closure is the reason it holds the foot better than the BOA-equipped boots it replaced.

Bootfitter's Advice
The Scarpa F1 XT runs a 100 mm last and is low volume through the forefoot and instep. Note that the Scarpa F1 XT is offered in whole Mondo sizes only, from 24 to 31, so half-size feet need a shell fit to decide which way to go rather than a conversion.
A Grilamid Fiber Glass LFT shell, a glass-reinforced nylon, punches less predictably than a plain Grilamid shell because the glass fibre resists deformation. Expect modest correction rather than a large punch, and plan on molding the Intuition Cross Fit Tour LT liner, a heat-moldable foam liner.
