Kastle TX103 Alpine Touring Ski (2022)
The all new Kastle TX103 alpine touring ski represents the first time that Kastle has introduced a backcountry touring ski wider than 100 mm underfoot in over four years. The wider waist was well worth the wait as these backcountry masters are incredibly versatile. With a fat early rise shovel, this 103 impersonates a much wider ski in deep powder while remaining nimble underfoot on the skin track and when edging into variable and committing slopes.
Kastle has moved the tip and tail edge contact points further towards the center of the ski, which promotes a more maneuverable, playful and friendlier backcountry profile. Meaning you can straight line into a slope and turn or “smear” the skis quickly to dump speed through the woods and tight couloirs. Staying true to its deep Austrian roots, this slightly cambered backcountry weapon will ride the edges and snap and rebound you into your turns. They say it is what’s on the inside that counts, and this ski is solid with its Paulownia and Poplar wood core that is wound with carbon-fiberglass. The semi-capped sandwich sidewall construction adds durability and torsional rigidity to a backcountry floater that is still at home on firm surfaces.
Kastle has made its trademark Hollowtech 3.0 tip 13% larger. This bright orange “eye” reduces swing weight, eliminates tip chatter, dampens the ski at speed and literally glows in the dark, greatly adding to your alpine start and evening uphill experiences. This wide waisted Kastle stays impressively lean, weighing in at head-scratching 1620 grams in the 181cm. If you're looking for a ski that is skinny on the skin track, fat through the powder, and confidently fit on challenging terrain, grab yourself a Kastle TX103 and never look back!

Alex at Cripple Creek was great to work with in determining the right backcountry skis, boots and bindings. Very easy and speedy delivery to the east coast!
Love my AT set up. Had to work through some inventory issues due to a late season sale but can’t complain about the help in Avon.
