Scarpa has dominated nearly every footwear and ski boot category since 1938. Handcrafted in the Dolomites of Italy, SCARPA stands for Società Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima, which means Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo Mountain Area. Try saying that ten times fast.
They were early to pick up on the growth of mountaineering and climbing in the high alpine of the Dolomites. In order to continue to grow the sport, they incorporated specific features into their durable footwear to help local athletes progress within their sport.
Scarpa continues to boost their feature-rich boots and shoes. They are constantly developing the hottest skimo, telemark, and touring boots that fit a wide range of feet. More recently they have been incorporating a ton of carbon fiber into their Alien series of touring boots, while the Maestrale and Gea have now been outfitted with Pebax® Rnew® materials that are premium bio-based TPE Plastic made from the oil of the castor plant. The Scarpa 4-Quattro Pro is a 1,550-gram (size 27) freeride hybrid boot with a 100 mm last, a 130-plus flex, and a GripWalk (ISO 23223) sole with tech inserts, built for the most aggressive skiers who want alpine-boot power and a real walk mode. The 4-Quattro Pro shares the low-volume 4-Quattro shell but reinforces the cuff, adds the Secure SpeedLock 4 walk mechanism and an Aerogel layer underfoot, and pairs a four-buckle overlap design with 60 degrees of cuff rotation.

Why We Like It

Bootfitter's Advice
The 4-Quattro Pro is the lowest-volume boot in the line and one of the lowest-volume boots we sell, running narrow through the midfoot with a low instep. After fitting these, we find they suit narrow, flat feet best; skiers with a high instep will find the fit very snug over the top of the foot. Confirm size with a shell fit rather than converting from a street-shoe number, and note that Scarpa runs one full size larger than a same-size Maestrale.
We can punch the Grilamid Bio forefoot across the metatarsals and the fifth-toe area, which the shell accepts well, but the low instep is hard to gain volume in beyond a firm liner mold. Skiers with a high instep should budget for fit work or a higher-volume shell. We recommend molding the Intuition 4Pro Flex Ride liner to lock in heel hold, and some skiers swap to a wrap liner for skinny calves.

The Scarpa F1 XT fits as a low-to-medium-volume boot on a 100 mm last, narrow through the forefoot with a low-to-medium instep and a secure heel. It shares its lower shape with the Alien RS and F1 LT, so it fits narrower than the classic F1. We size it close to true Mondo and confirm with a shell fit; Scarpa builds full sizes only.
Unlike the carbon F1 LT, the Grilamid FG LFT lower punches, so a skilled fitter can open the toe box and relieve sixth-toe or bunion pressure, done in a temperature-controlled setting. The forefoot buckle suits lower-volume feet better than a BOA, and the moldable Intuition liner fine-tunes the rest.
