Tech Specs
Weighing only 200 grams but making up for it in its crazy versatility, the ATK Kuluar 12 Alpine Touring Binding is one of its kind as it stands on the middle ground between hard-core race tech and more well-rounded touring bindings. With its lightweight, hardy aluminum, steel, and POM construction, you can be confident this binding will be able to keep up with your skiing. 10mm elastic travel in the heel due to the Elastic Response System helps absorb harder impacts from jumps/compressions with the natural flex of the ski so you can stay in your flow state.
When its time to climb, you have four different walk modes with only one heel riser (impressive, right?), which is roughly Flat, +29 mm, +30 mm, +43mm. Crampon compatibility comes in handy on spring tours and mountaineering objectives, and the brake compatibility ensures you have security when transitioning on those awkward slopes, unless you want to be the lightweight show-off and go brakeless with a leash. Easy entry system in the toe design is developed from the Crest touring line and makes it a breeze to step and lock in. 20mm of heel adjustment allows you to change between different boots in your quiver as long as they fall within that range.
While the vertical release is fixed with a "U" Spring whose value is set for medium-to-heavy set users, the lateral release is adjustable from a range of 6-12, further setting this binding apart in the class of sub-300g touring bindings. Well-loved by many of our own, the Kuluar 12 is truly an impressive binding leaving little to be desired. If you want the softer release range, you can opt for the ATK Kuluar 9.
