Specialized S-Works Epic 9 – Custom XX SL / Trickstuff Build

Selling my S-Works Epic 9, built from the frame up with a custom parts selection rather than the stock S-Works complete-bike build. The bike has approximately 3 months of use and is in excellent overall condition with the light cosmetic scuffs you would expect from normal mountain-bike use.

The Epic 9 is Specialized’s latest-generation XC race platform. Specialized built the S-Works version around its top-level FACT 12m carbon frame with 120mm rear travel and Progressive XC Race Geometry. Specialized also dropped a claimed 206 grams versus the Epic 8 platform while refining the suspension kinematics and reducing suspension friction. It’s designed to be an extremely light XC race bike without giving up the capability needed for modern, technical courses.

This is a custom frame-up build, with several component choices that differ from the standard S-Works Epic 9.

Specialized lists the current complete S-Works Epic 9 at $15,249.99, with the S-Works Epic 9 frameset alone at $6,999.99.

Buyer Options / Parts Included

One advantage of this bike is that I have a few alternate components available, so the buyer can choose how they would like it set up.

Dropper:
The photos show the bike with a Fox Transfer SL, but the original build used a 175mm RockShox Reverb AXS with AXS Pod controller. I can swap the Reverb AXS back onto the bike for the buyer.

Cockpit:
I preferred the Syncros bars shown in the photos, but I also have the Roval Control SL cockpit cut to 740mm. Buyer can choose which setup they prefer.

Cranks:
Currently equipped with 165mm SRAM XX SL power-meter cranks. The crank arms are heavily cosmetically scratched because I rode them without crank boots. This is cosmetic, but I want to be completely upfront about their condition.

I also have a new set of 170mm XX SL cranks available if the buyer would prefer those instead.

Tires:
The photos show Pirelli tires, but the bike will be sold with Continental Dubnitals that have only been ridden a few times.

Condition

The bike has been ridden for roughly three months and has the light scuffs and cosmetic marks you'd expect from normal use. There is no attempt to represent it as a showroom-new bike.

The biggest cosmetic issue is the scratching on the 165mm XX SL crank arms mentioned above. Again, a new 170mm XX SL crank option is available if that's important to the buyer.

Overall, this is a very lightly used top-tier Epic 9 frame with a no-compromise custom build. Between the Trickstuff brakes, XX SL drivetrain/power meter, Flight Attendant suspension and the ability to choose the cockpit, crank length and dropper setup, it's a more unique build than the standard complete S-Works.
