The Scarpa Alien fits as a medium-volume race boot on a 99 mm last, narrower than the F1 but with a medium-to-high instep and a decent heel pocket. We size it close to true Mondo, and since Scarpa builds it in full sizes only, a 26.5 foot and a 27 foot share the 27 shell. The current version fits a touch wider in the toe box than the older yellow Alien.

Scarpa does not recommend punching the thin carbon-infused Grilamid lower, so confirm the shell fit before buying and rely on the moldable Intuition liner and a footbed to fine-tune. Skiers with wide forefeet or very high insteps should shell-fit carefully or consider a higher-volume touring boot.
