Why We Like It
- The 125 flex is one of the stiffer women's touring boots we fit, and it drives skis in variable snow far better than a typical touring boot.
- At 1,300 g per boot (size 25) the Gea RS balances real downhill power with a manageable touring weight.
- The Speed MLT ski/walk mechanism is simple to operate and opens to a 61-degree range of motion for an efficient skin track.
- The Wave Closure and HRS heel-retention strap wrap the foot and lock the heel, which limits lift and drives power to the ski.
- The carbon-infused Grilamid Bio shell and Pebax Rnew cuff add stiffness and progression while using more renewable, castor-oil-based materials.
- The Vibram Cayman LT sole (ISO 9523) with tech inserts grips rocky approaches and pairs with pin-tech touring bindings.
Best Uses
- Freeride touring and everyday backcountry days where the descent matters
- Aggressive skiing on touring skis 90 to 110 mm underfoot
- Big backcountry days that mix long ascents with demanding descents
- Women with medium-volume feet on a 102 mm last
- Skiers who want a stiff, powerful women's touring boot with real range of motion
Bootfitter's Advice
The Gea RS fits as a medium-volume women's boot on a 102 mm last, with a secure heel from the HRS strap and a forefoot that runs on the wider, more accommodating side for the line. After fitting the Gea line for years, we find it works well for most foot types, and the 4.0 redesign lowered instep volume while opening the toe box slightly. Confirm size with a shell fit rather than converting from a street-shoe number, and note the boot runs a bit long.
We can punch the Grilamid Bio forefoot and sixth-toe area readily, and the shell takes fit work well, though we avoid the darker carbon-core zones. Plan on a heat mold of the Intuition Pro Flex Performance liner to lock in heel hold and take pressure off the instep. Entry is easiest with the tongue pulled toward the arch-side of the foot.

Compare the Scarpa Gea RS
Gea RS vs. Scarpa Gea
The Scarpa Gea is the softer, lighter sibling at a 100 flex on the same 102 mm last, using a Pebax Rnew shell rather than the Gea RS carbon-infused Grilamid Bio. Women who want maximum downhill power choose the Gea RS at a 125 flex, while those who prioritize a lighter, more forgiving all-around boot choose the Gea.

The Scarpa Gea RS is the women's version of the Maestrale RS, sharing the Maestrale RS design and an ISO 9523 Vibram touring sole. The Gea RS adds a scalloped liner cuff to accommodate the calf and is offered in smaller sizes. Fit and calf shape usually decide between the two rather than performance.
