The Specialized Epic 9 Comp is a full-suspension XC race bike that delivers the FACT 11m carbon Epic 9 frame, 120mm of travel at both ends, and a full wireless AXS drivetrain as the entry point into the lineup. Size medium weighs 25 lbs 15.5 oz, and the build comes in two colorways suited to riders stepping into dedicated XC racing or upgrading from a hardtail.
The frame shares the Progressive XC Race Geometry, Rider-First Engineered sizing, threaded bottom bracket, 12x148mm UDH rear dropout, internal cable routing, and SWAT BOX 2.0 downtube storage used across the Epic 9 range. Suspension pairs a RockShox SID Select fork (120mm travel, 15x110mm axle, 44mm offset, Debon Air) with a RockShox SIDLuxe Select+ shock (190x45mm, Solo Air) running Ride Dynamics 3-position damping and TwistLoc remote lockout on the handlebar.
Shifting runs on SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS Transmission with a 12-speed 10-52t cassette, a SRAM S1000 Eagle crankset (34T, 165mm on SM, 170mm on M through XL), and a SRAM AXS POD controller. Braking comes from SRAM Motive Bronze 4-piston hydraulic discs with a 180mm front rotor and 160mm rear. Specialized Alloy 29 wheels (27mm internal width, tubeless-ready, 32h, DT Swiss Elemental spokes) wrap Specialized Fast Trak (front) and Air Trak (rear) 29x2.35 tires with Flex Lite casings and T5/T7 compound. Cockpit includes a Roval Alloy XC 2-bolt stem (60/70mm), Specialized Alloy Minirise bar (750mm wide, 10mm rise, 35mm clamp), X-Fusion Manic dropper (125/150/170mm by size), Body Geometry Power Sport saddle with steel rails, and SRAM slip-on grips with Twist-Loc. Point the Epic 9 Comp at a local XC series or a first marathon event and the rider gets carbon chassis, wireless shifting, and race geometry without jumping straight to a carbon wheelset.
