Splitboard Selection Advice

Weston builds the Backwoods in six sizes and CCBB stocks four of them: 157, 160, 163W and 167W. Size on boot fit first, because the waist widens quickly. The 157 runs 25.6 cm and caps at a US 10 men's boot, the 160 runs 25.9 cm to a US 11.5, the 163W jumps to 27.4 cm for boots to US 13.5, and the 167W runs 28.1 cm to a US 15. A US 12 or 13 foot needs one of the wide sizes, and that is a wider gap than the length numbers suggest.

This shape arrives with its setback built in. Eighteen millimetres of taper and 10 mm of setback are already in the outline, so there is little to gain from shifting the stance further back, and doing so lifts the nose rocker out of the snow rather than working with it. Skins are pre-cut and sold separately, sized by board rather than length: the 157 and 160 take Splitboard Skin 3, the 163W and 167W take Splitboard Skin 5.
